Firstly I started add color on upper layer in Overlay mode. But the result didn't satisfied me at all. So I painted color simply on layer over in Normal mode, using the grayscale underpainting just as a sketch

Oh I see, so in the end it took double time, right?
I'm thinking about ways to color b&w pictures, but I see none apart from re-painting them.

Thank you!
I used Overlay mode here at first time, but wasn't satisfied by result.
Then I just set Normal mode and started painting above with round and a little bit textured brush with Flow about 50-60% (both Pen Pressures in Transfer (Other dynamics) option was enabled too).
So grayscale image was used as a sketch, with full overpainting above it.

Thanks for sharing this. In my experience its quite difficult to get the colors right just using single overlay, so its good to know you're also painting "manually" over everything.
